SSG Michael B. Dooley II, 44

SSG Michael B. Dooley II, 44, passed away of natural causes at his home in Woods Bay, on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007.

Mike was born in Bakersfield, Calif., on July 10, 1963. His father, Michael B. Dooley, was killed in Vietnam in 1968 on his third tour as a Green Beret. Shortly after his father's death, 5-year-old Michael was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Colleen and Matt Dooley, of Proctor. He attended grade school in Proctor and graduated from Polson High School in 1982.

Mike proudly served his country in the military for several years. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He also served in the U.S. Army, and most recently in the Montana National Guard. He had just returned home in November from a one year tour as an M.P. in Iraq. He also had worked with the Lake County Sheriff's office, Polson Police Department, St. Ignatius Police Department and most recently Semitool in Kalispell.

He married Karisa Knievel in Polson on Dec. 3, 2004.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kari, and stepchildren, Krisalea, Jordan and Melody; his children, son, Michael B. Dooley III, currently on his first tour of duty in Iraq, and daughters, Caitlin and Kelli in Oregon; his birth mother, Shirley, in California; his adopted family, mother, Colleen Dooley of Polson; brothers, Tracy and wife Cindy Dooley of Polson, Dennis Dooley and fiance Angie Kaatz of Proctor, Mark and wife Jacque Dooley of Polson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his natural father, Michael B. Dooley; and his adopted father, Matthew E. Dooley, who also proudly served their country.

Mike enjoyed the Montana way of life, law enforcement and the military. He was a true professional who prided himself in the service of his country and the communities he served.

Cremation will take place under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory in Polson. A private family service will be held at a later date.
