Burglars brewed a coffee plot

Trouble brewed early Saturday morning when several Kalispell coffee kiosks were burglarized.

Would-be thieves broke the windows at five java shops. Outback Java Shak on U.S. 93 South suffered only the broken windows; damage was estimated at $300. Other Outback Java Shak locations were not burglarized.

Cowgirl Coffee on U.S. 2 and Birch Grove Road lost a small CD player. Camp Coffee on Montana 206 lost $100; Full of Beans on West Reserve Drive lost $75, and $50 was stolen from Sunshine Espresso on Woodland Park Drive.

Flathead County sheriff's deputies called the owners of other coffee kiosks, warning them of the rash of burglaries and advising them not to leave cash inside overnight.

Skis were stolen at a ski resort.

That was steam, not smoke, pouring from a vehicle at a gas station.

When one drunken passenger tried to fight people on the train, other passengers sat on him. He was let off in Columbia Falls.

A woman returned two printer cartridges to an office-supply store for a cash refund. Later, employees found two empty cartridge wrappers in the store.

A mountain lion was spotted on Tamarack Lane in Columbia Falls. Dispatch received two reports of an aggressive moose up the North Fork.

Sometimes she keeps her purse in her unlocked vehicle in the driveway, but she also takes it on her pizza delivery runs. Someone could have stolen her husband's prescription medication from it at any of those locations.

Deputies arrested a man on Conrad Drive on suspicion of family member assault.

A gas station was burglarized on U.S. 93.

The baby Jesus was kidnapped from a manger scene on West View Drive.

When the woman realized she'd left her purse in a shopping cart in the supermarket parking lot, she went back to get it - but someone had beat her to it.
