John W. Roberts, 94

John W. Roberts, 94, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell. He was born on Aug. 18, 1912, in Shelby, the son of William Richard and Margaret (Worden) Roberts.

He was educated in a country school 14 miles north of Shelby near the family homestead.

In 1940 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Jacob at Conrad. Following their marriage, they farmed and ranched near Shelby until 1944 when they moved to the Flathead Valley where John worked for Homer McClarty drilling water wells for the next 31 years until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, in 1985; a half brother, Donald Edmundson; and a sister, Serena Kraft.

He is survived by his two sons, John Roberts of Havre and James Roberts of Priest River, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for John will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, at Glacier Memorial Gardens with Pastor Huston Green officiating.
