Donald Allen Drown, 74

Donald Allen Drown, 74, died of a heart attack while wintering in Arizona, Jan 3, 2007. He was born in Los Angeles. on March 17th, 1932, the son of Clifford E. Drown and Mildred Clark Drown.

He grew up in Los Angeles with his two brothers, Glenn and David, loved cars and working the land. Just out of high school Don started working for the Los Angeles Division of Building and Safety Department.

He married the love of his life on Sept. 29, 1952, Christina M. Guthrie. They lived in Pasadena, Calif. and had two sons, Laurence Allen and Steven Lee. A few years later they moved to Paradise, Calif., and had a baby girl, Sandra Lynn (the twinkle of her daddy's eye, being born on his birthday), and three years later they had twin girls, Sharen Ann and Karren Ann. At he age of 43, he picked up his family and moved to Bigfork.

He loved to work. He worked for the Operating Engineers on a grader for 40 years.

After retirement, he love to hunt, fish, camp and travel. He even had time for a garden. After the passing of his first wife, he met Dorothy Long Pearson of Kalispell, they were married the summer of 2005. The R.V. became like a second home, traveling from Alaska to Arizona.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Long Drown, of Kalispell; brothers, Glenn Drown of Texas and David Drown of Calif.; two sons, Larry Drown of Columbia Falls and Steve Drown and his wife, Diane, of Newman Lake, Wash.; three daughters, Sandra Gustafson and husband, Gus, of Kalispell, Sharon Drown of Bellingham, Wash. and Karren Sand of Marion; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and stepchildren Dan and Debbie, Bill and Mary, Linda and Marty.

Memorial Services will be held 4 p.m.Saturday, Feb. 17th at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Evergreen. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later date in Paradise, Calif.
