The Flathead County commissioners approved new contracts for several department heads on Friday and declined to renew another.

Three-year contracts were unanimously approved for Jim Atkinson at the Agency on Aging; Raeann Campbell, human resources manager; Jed Fisher, director of the Weed, Parks and Building Department; Dave Prunty, director of the county landfill; and Fairgrounds Manager Jay Scott.

On a 2-1 vote, the commissioners declined to renew the contract of Richard Stockdale, director of the Animal Control Department.

They also approved the continued employment of Bobbie Kelly at the RSVP office, although as a noncontract program manager rather than a department head.

These were the latest in a series of contract negotiations with non-elected department heads that have taken place this month.

Earlier this month, the commissioners unanimously approved a three-year contract for County Administrator Mike Pence.

On Thursday, negotiations broke down with Road Superintendent Charlie Johnson, so Johnson retired.
