Area fire departments responded to a number of fires caused by lightning strikes and accidents caused by inclement weather Tuesday night. The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to smoke seen near Coon Hollow Road in Kila. They also responded to a tree across the road on Batavia Lane and a fire in a field near Rose Crossing and Pine Grove Lane.

The Whitefish Fire Department responded to a fire possibly caused by lightning near the state park on Whitefish Lake and a haystack on fire on Three Mile Drive. They also responded to a smoking neon sign at a local gas station and convenience store.

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to a motorcycle accident on U.S. 2 near the old Costco. A 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital. They also extinguished tree fires on Stafford Street and near Rocky Mountain campground. The second tree fire was caused by a downed power line. Crews also responded to a sparking power line on Evergreen Drive.

Kalispell Fire Department ambulances responded to an accident on U.S. 93 and Meridian Road, but there were no injuries. They also responded to an accident on Political Hill Road. A 25-year-old woman was taken to the hospital.

The Somers Fire Department responded to smoke in Lakeside visible from U.S. 93.

The Creston Fire Department responded to a fire near Montana 35 and the McCaffery Road area.
