Verna M. Erickson, 88, 'left this world to go home to be with the Lord' on Thursday, July 5, 2007. She was born Oct. 19, 1918, to Everett and Ella Waggener. Verna was the oldest of two children in their family. She grew up in Kalispell where she attended Flathead High School.

She met and married Walter Erickson in 1937. Verna and Walter raised a family of two boys, Richard and Wally.

Verna had many interests during her life but one that stood out and gave her many days of joy and accomplishment was cosmetology. She attended cosmetology school in 1963, receiving her certificate of graduation. She became so accomplished that she became a teacher at the school of cosmetology where she was able to help others with their dreams. After she left the teaching job she opened her own beauty shop in the family home.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, 'who went to the Lord' in 2001.

She is survived by her two sons, Richard and Wally; five grandchildren, Chad, Stacie, Ryan, Toby and Angela; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella.

Verna was cremated and placed next to Walter at Mountview Cemetery in Billings on Tuesday, July 10. There will be a memorial service held at 10 a.m., July 28, at Faith Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Elks Club.

Michelotti-Sawyers was in charge of arrangements.
