Kathleen Nova Titland, 87

Kathleen Nova Titland, 87, passed away May 22, 2007, at her home in Kalispell. She was born on Jan. 18, 1920, in Duran, N.M., the daughter of Daniel and Nova (Simpson) Kelly. She was raised in Tucumcari, N.M., and graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in education.

She pursued flying with the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPS); flying various airplanes during World War II.

She was united in marriage to Robert John Titland in Superior on June 1, 1947.

She received a Master's of Education degree and she enjoyed a long career of teaching in Cutbank, retiring after 25 years. Following her retirement, she volunteered for many years at Kalispell Regional Medical Center and the Kalispell Dialysis Center.

She enjoyed traveling, painting, hiking, photography and continued to enjoy flying.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1994.

She is survived by a son, Robert Titland Jr., and wife, Michelle, of Great Falls; and three daughters, Lee Scroggins of Las Vegas, Susan Foley and husband, Mark, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Sarah Tutland of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Kathleen will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at Johnson Mortuary with Pastor Tim Bartholomew officiating. There will be no visitation. Military honors will be conducted by the United Veterans of the Flathead.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Dialysis Patient Fund, 135 Commons Way, Kalispell, MT 59901.
