Our beloved Anna Bernice Van Geystel, 87, passed away peacefully May 24, 2007, at her home in Sequim, Wash. Anna was born in Sheridan, on Jan. 29, 1920, to Christian and Caroline Haag (Albrecht). She was raised and schooled in Twin Bridges until graduation in 1938. Following graduation she moved with the family to Kalispell, where she resided for many years. She also loved and spent many years in Alaska and Sequim.

Anna was a homemaker extraordinaire who did all the baking, canning and sewing for her family. She also enjoyed and was passionate about many activities including gardening, quilting and needlework, playing cards, and was a prolific and accomplished artist in many mediums. She made and donated hundreds of baby quilts to orphanages, AIDS babies, Alaskan villages and hospitals throughout the United States. She loved road trips and cruises with family and friends. She enjoyed life to the fullest without regret.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Caroline Haag; husbands, James Berthol 'Bert' Huggins and Edward Van Geystel; her friend and sister-in-law, Leone Haag; and nephew, Kendall Haag also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Jean Thomas and Edward, of Sequim, James Leo Huggins and Becky of Centennial, Colo., and Carol Joanne Huggins and George Foster of Sedro Woolley, Wash.; brothers, Leo A. Haag and Marjorie of Sequim, and Paul G. Haag and Patricia of Kalispell. She is also survived by six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

At her request there will be no services. Cremation has taken place under the care of Olympic Cremation Association. Her ashes will be scattered over the Tobacco Root Mountains in Montana near her childhood home and a celebration of her life will follow at a date to be determined.

In her memory Anna requested that donations be made to Assured Hospice of Clallam and Jefferson Counties, 1821 Cooks Hill Road, Suite 200, Centralia, WA 98531. We thank them for their loving care and support during her illness.
