Deputies investigate abuse allegations

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies are investigating child abuse allegations after a woman's boyfriend hit her 9-year-old son.

A 51-year-old male and 29-year-old female from Libby came to Kalispell for a doctor's appointment Monday. They were last seen that evening and hadn't yet returned. Concerned parties called deputies to ascertain their whereabouts, which are still unknown.

A 40-year-old man was knocked unconscious after he was thrown from his horse on Addison Court. He was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where his injuries are not believed to be serious.

Deputies were called to the ShopKo on U.S. 2 to apprehend a 19-year-old male who attempted to steal a video game.

They also received a call to rescue a wounded muskrat in Ashley Creek near Western Drive.

A 4-foot-tall black bear wouldn't leave a couple's yard on Aero Lane in Bigfork, no matter how hard the husband tried to scare it away. Nor would a bear leave the back porch of a house on Echo Lake Road. Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials eventually removed both bears.

Deputies just missed arresting a man they believe is wanted on warrants in Hungry Horse.

Deputies were unable to find a suspicious person seen in the wooded area behind Canyon Elementary School.
