Class AA Legion ball taking shape

This weekend could go a long way in determining where the Flathead Valley's Class AA American Legion baseball programs will be sitting in the Western AA standings.

The Kalispell Lakers are currently sitting with the conference's final berth to the state tournament, just five games into their conference schedule. They play four games this weekend in Canada - two against Lethbridge and two against Medicine Hat. And, poof, just like that, they will be more than one-third of the way through their 24-game league schedule.

The Lakers play one game at Lethbridge tonight. They travel to Medicine Hat for a doubleheader on Saturday before coming back through Lethbridge on Sunday for another game.

The Glacier Twins have played just two conference games and both were losses to Kalispell. They play two doubleheaders in Great Falls this weekend. They play the Stallions on Saturday and the Electrics on Sunday.

They are 15-9 overall on the season.

Led by Austin Zapata (.444 batting average), Zach Davis (.367), Tyler Reichoff (.346) and Adam Olson (.329) on offense, the Lakers are 2-3 in conference. All three of those losses are to Missoula, which is so powerful it will most certainly be vying for a state championship. They Lakers are 17-12 overall.

Olson leads the team in RBIs with 27 and has walked 27 times while striking out just six times. Reichoff has 21 RBIs with 20 walks and just five strikeouts. Jacob Scott, Tony Lawrence and Zach Ford are hitting around .300 and also have more walks than strikeouts.

So far, Bigfork's John White has been the stud on the mound. He's pitched the most innings (42 1/3) and has the lowest ERA (1.32) and best walk-to-strikeout ratio (16:32). Davis and Reichoff both have about 35 innings pitched and have low 4.00 ERAs. Greg Neils and Olson have pitched 29 1/3 innings. Neils has the second-lowest ERA (2.62).

Glacier's statistics could not be obtained.
