First, Kalispell police went to a 4:06 a.m. call that a stranger knocked on the door at 157 Sherwood Lane, prompting neighborhood dog-barking. Then they went to a 4:09 a.m. call at 160 Sherwood Lane about somebody trying to enter through a back window. When the resident opened a door, he heard a man yell to a vehicle out front, then take off crashing through the bushes. The intruder left the back gate open.

A man was arrested on a charge of military desertion after police checked into a father's suspicions that his daughter's friend had let the man stay at the daughter's apartment while she was out of town. The friend had been given the apartment key, but was only supposed to be feeding the fish.

Windows were rolled all the way up on a blue Toyota RAV 4 parked in the sun just before 2 p.m. Sunday near the front of the Target parking lot - and a dog was locked inside, the caller reported.

A man reportedly exposed himself to a child, according to a report that came in just before 3 p.m. Saturday from Costco, 2330 U.S. 93 N. He was described as about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, around 40 years old and has graying hair.

Police were called to that address again about 5:30 p.m. on a report of child neglect, and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of negligent endangerment.

Skateboarding turned painful Saturday night when a boy reportedly was hit by a Subaru Legacy. Police talked to both parties during their investigation.

The drive-through lane simply was too much for one impatient driver who tried to back out of the fast-food restaurant on U.S. 2 West, and finally kicked it into reverse overdrive. The driver did not hit any other vehicle, but police talked with him.

A fight in a casino parking lot on U.S. 93 S. led to a man's arrest on a warrant.

Vandals hit the construction site at the Thompson Park tennis courts on Seventh Avenue East, knocking over barrels that luckily, according to the report, were not open.
