There's no 'joy' in joyriding

Flathead County sheriff's deputies handled a spate of traffic accidents on slippery road surfaces on U.S. 93 and U.S. 2 Thursday evening.

Four young people reportedly stole a vehicle Wednesday night, got into an accident and went to a home on Bayou Road Thursday morning. Two males went to jail, and the property owner was contacted about the damaged fence.

There was a report of an avalanche in the Jewel Basin area Thursday evening. No further details were available shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Deputies investigated a mother's fears for her children's safety in the custody of their dad after he knocked a cell phone out of the daughter's hand and she arrived at their house to find the son hiding and scared.

A vehicle lost a load of stone on U.S. 2 between Rogers Lake and Ashley Lake Road. At least 20 callers said so.
