Domestic assault leads to arrest

Columbia Falls police arrested Stephen Hilstad, 41, after he allegedly hit his wife and 14-year-old daughter, and put a younger daughter in danger at their home. A 911 call just before 9 p.m. sent police to the apartment on Eighth Avenue EN, where he was taken into custody. His wife and daughters had fled to call for help. He was charged with two counts of partner or family member assault, one count of criminal endangerment and with resisting arrest. He remained in the Columbia Falls jail Tuesday afternoon.

A boy was charged with disorderly conduct at the high school Tuesday after school when he hit another boy.
