Donald A. Miller, 85

Donald A. 'Don' Miller was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Spokane to Albert and Mary Miller. He passed away March 17, 2007, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Don graduated from Rogers High School in Spokane in 1941.

He married Margie L. Blair on Dec. 5, 1941.

Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served on the sub tender USS Anthedon in the South Pacific. He was very proud of his service to his country during World War II. Upon receiving his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Spokane and worked for Kaiser Aluminum.

In 1955, Don moved his family to Columbia Falls, where he worked at Anaconda Aluminum Company until his retirement.

Don built his own home when he moved to Columbia Falls. While in Columbia Falls, he served as a city councilman, building inspector, and coached Pee Wee and Babe Ruth baseball.

He and Margie moved to Woods Bay in 1973 and enjoyed 28 years of living on the lake. They moved to Kalispell in 2001.

Don especially enjoyed his time hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. His favorite spots were the Swan and Thompson River country.

Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margie, at the family home; sons, Mike and wife, Ronda, Dan, and Randy and wife, Julie; grandsons, Jeff and wife, Donna, David and wife, Amanda, Jason and wife, Rhonda, and Doug and wife, Nikki; and great-grandchildren Dylan, Kendall, Emma, Vincent, Abbey, Beth and Nick.

His brother, Bill, preceded Don in death in 1989.

Don wished memorials be made to the animal shelter of your choice.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home; interment will be after the service at Glacier Memorial Gardens. A reception will be at the Elks lodge in Kalispell after the interment.
