A night of restless teens, assaults

| March 21, 2007 1:00 AM

Reports of rowdy youths wreaking havoc keep Kalispell police busy Monday evening.

On 10th Street West, 13 kids surrounded a duo who appeared to be fighting. When police arrived, the kids were just "horsing around."

A 12-year-old girl was arrested for shoplifting at Claire's Accessories in the Kalispell Center Mall.

A carload of teens kept driving by and yelling racial slurs at a West Washington Street resident.

The score of kids said they had permission from the owner to skateboard in the Glacier Bank parking lot downtown. They didn't.

A few blocks farther south, a car full of teens reportedly yelled rude and profane things out the windows, then held up traffic while they drove slowly and conversed with people in the car in the next lane. Officers counseled the driver.

When a Smith's Food & Drug employee asked the skateboarders to move along, they were less-than-polite when they declined to comply with her request. When an officer asked the same thing, however, they were more accommodating.

A caller reported being followed by a group of teenage boys.

Teens were reportedly running loose on Two Mile Drive.

At Northridge Drive and Hilltop Avenue, kids are suspected of stealing orange cones.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for assault and possessing drug paraphernalia at a Sixth Avenue West apartment.

Another man was arrested for assault at a North Meridian Road apartment. He'd been drinking and refused to leave.

A caller worried about the youngster without a helmet on the child-sized four-wheeler on West Arizona Street. The child's parents were warned and counseled.

One minute, her car was parked in front of her Sixth Avenue West residence. The next, it was missing. Police found the thief and arrested him for drug possession as well as motor-vehicle theft.

A barking dog on Crestline Avenue resulted in a "nastygram" posted on the owner's door, compliments of an irritated neighbor.

Two dogs trapped in a pond at Woodland Park were rescued.
