Columbia Falls police suddenly took over from City Court officials Monday morning when a man appearing there on traffic offenses suddenly bolted out of the courtroom. Police chased him on foot, then - when he hopped into his vehicle - by car. They caught up to him at Sixth Street and Third Avenue West. He now faces a negligent endangerment charge, considerably more serious than his traffic counts.

A 3-year-old boy on Grace Road told a concerned person that he didn't know where his parents were, but he soon was returned to his mother safely.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI late Sunday when police stopped him on U.S. 93 near Rex's Pawn.

The kitten was near death when brought in to the police station Monday, but a kind-hearted woman offered to take it and seek medical help.
