Julian F. 'Foot' Forthofer, 82

Julian F. "Foot" Forthofer, 82, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, Ohio. He was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Avon, Ohio, and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of the Avon High School class of 1942, where he lettered in basketball, football and track.

He was owner and founder of Avon Hardware/Gun and Tack, established in 1948.

Julian was an avid hunter, trap shooter and outdoorsman. He was a founding member of Avon Sportsman Club, life member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association, and life member of both the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was also a member of the Silver Wheels Cycle Club.

He enjoyed following his children's and grandchildren's sports and activities.

Julian was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, Ohio, where he was active in the Prime Timers and was a Minister of Hospitality.

He is survived by his wife, Norma (nee Linden); children, Linda Forthofer and Michael Uzelac of Avon, Dr. Lawrence Forthofer and Dr. Marsha Heinke of Grafton, Ohio, Daniel and Ann Forthofer of Avon, Joseph "Pete" and Deborah Forthofer of Whitefish, Charles Forthofer and Preston Phillips of Bridgehampton, N.Y., and Lisa and Kenneth Matuszak of Avon; and six grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Joseph, Justin, Kelsey and Tyler.

He was preceded in death by brother Dr. Clinton Forthofer; and one sister, Ruth Plas.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Road, Avon, where closing prayers will be at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, North Ridgeville, with the Rev. Richard Gonser, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Mary Cemetery, in Avon.
