John M. Miller, 85, passed away March 19, 2007, in Kalispell. John was born in Canada and was raised near Rouleau, Saskatchewan, and in Denver.

John served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a radioman in a B-17 bomber in the European theater. He received three Bronze Stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

John farmed in Audubon, Iowa, and then worked as a telephone switchman into the 1980s.

He met and married Clara Miller in 1946 in Los Angeles. They had 57 wonderful years together.

John enjoyed agriculture, woodworking, hunting and cats. After his wife Clara died in 2003, he moved to Kalispell to live with his son's family until his death.

"'Grand-Paw,' we'll miss your twinkling blue eyes, your wry sense of humor and your putt-putt tractor. We're grateful that you were part of our home." John was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; and daughter, Candace Susan Miller.

He is survived by a son, Orla Miller, of Kalispell; daughter-in-law, Rita Haskins of Kalispell; grandchildren, Kiley Hayden Miller, Winter Rose Miller, and Kaden Haskins Miller.

A celebration of John's life will be held in the summer, with the burial of his ashes in Billings.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
