Joan Schultz, 83

Joan Schultz, 83, formerly of Essex, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Park County, Wyo. She was the youngest child of Thomas Edward and Mary (Warren) Smith.

Joan moved with her family to Butte, where she met and married the love of her life, Alfred Schultz, on Feb. 13, 1947. They resided in Essex, where Alfred was employed by the Great Northern Railroad. Joan was a homemaker and the mother of two children, Christine and Philip. Joan enjoyed picking huckleberries, riding her bicycle, sewing, and being a wife and mother.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Robert and Philip; and sisters, Mabel and Kathleen.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred Schultz, of Kalispell; one son, Philip Schultz, of Kalispell; one daughter, Christine Calhoun, and husband, George, of Butte; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Christopher Calhoun, of Butte.

Graveside services for Joan Eleanor Schultz will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Glacier Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday in the Johnson Mortuary chapel.
