Locke throws second 1-hitter of season; Thompson homers

POLSON - Eric Locke tossed his second 1-hitter of the season and Brandon Thompson drilled his first home run of the season, a 400-foot shot in the fourth inning to center field with one runner on, to lead Mission Valley to a 12-1 victory over the Bitterroot Red Sox on Sunday.
Shortstop Cubby Pierre went 3-for-3, which included two doubles and four RBIs.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Polson used a four-run fifth inning to break a 1-all tie and down Bitterroot, 5-1.
Pierre went 1-for-1 and had one RBI in the nightcap while Joe McCarthy went 2-for-3.
Mission Valley outhit Bitterroot 6-4 in the second game.
Mission Valley, 6-0 in league and 11-3 on the season, has now won four doubleheaders to date. The Mariners losses are to AA teams - Glacier, Kalispell and Missoula.
Mission Valley's next outing is Sunday, a doubleheader in Hamilton versus the Bitterroot Red Sox.
