Flathead County detectives are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a 21-year-old Kalispell woman Friday at the McGregor Lake campgrounds.

The victim was attending a party at the lake with people she didn't know when the attack occurred, police said.

After the alleged assault, the victim returned to the campsite to find her car missing, police said. She caught a ride back to town, where she contacted police and was taken to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center, police said.

Although detectives don't have a suspect in the assault case, they did find the man who police say stole the car.

Curtis Dwayne Berkey, 53, allegedly led police on a chase down Main Street in the stolen vehicle.

Kalispell police located the car in the Albertsons parking lot and tried to pull it over. Berkey sped away through downtown, and officers deployed a spike strip that blew three of the car's four tires, police said. Berkey eventually was pulled from the car and arrested at the Earl Bennett Building, less than a block from the county jail.

Berkey was arrested on suspicion of felony theft, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license.
