An inmate in the county jail will face a charge of disorderly conduct Monday after he used feces to decorate the padded walls of his cell. When guards tried to get the prisoner to shower and change his clothes, he resisted, and officers were forced to pepper-spray him.

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies worked extended 12-hour shifts during the holiday, in case festivities got out of control, but the busy weekend they prepared for never really materialized. "We were geared up for a big weekend, but it just didn't happen," said Flathead County Sheriff Mike Meehan.

However, police still arrested 18 people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

A woman told police someone either threw a rock through or shot out a back window in her house in Lakeside.

Deputies responded Monday to allegations of child abuse when a 3-year-old was spanked hard enough to leave hand marks in Martin City.

One person was taken to the hospital Monday after a car accident on U.S. 93 North.

A window was broken Tuesday by a vandal at the West Glacier post office.

An unknown person removed a "no trespassing" sign on Trapper Creek Road in Lakeside and replaced it with a live .300 Winchester Magnum round.
