Stillwater kickers pull out two close road wins

HELENA - Stillwater Christian School came out on top of two close MCAA soccer matches Saturday in improving to 10-4 overall on the season.

David Rice scored in the 69th minute to lift SCS past Yellowstone County Home School 3-2 in a non-conference outing. Yellowstone tied the match at 2-all two minutes earlier on a goal by Gabe Howly.

"Another great finish," said SCS coach Tim Anderson.

"Tim Butterfield and Zach George provided great inspirational play to lead our team. David Rice played well in the midfield, winning several balls on defense and sparking several attacks. Rice also followed (Ryan) Thompson's free kick to finish the winning goal."

Thompson, George and Jake Meerkatz all scored second-half goals to rally SCS by Helena Christian School 3-2 in Saturday's other outing.

On Friday, SCS blanked Butte Home School 5-0.

Two of the three games were league contests as SCS is now 5-0.

The Cougars play Polson today at 5 p.m.
