A developer is scheduled to brief Kalispell's City Council today on a proposed 160-acre housing project northeast of town.

Bob Lovejoy will discuss his River's Bend project at a council workshop session at which no votes are legally allowed. The River's Bend site is outside of Kalispell's city limits - south of Rose Crossing with the Whitefish River on its west side and Trumble Creek Road on its east side.

The proposal calls for 652 homes divided among single-family houses, townhouses and condominiums. It also calls for a 120-unit assisting living complex along Rose Crossing.

This is the second assisted living complex on the drawing board along Kalispell's nort h side. The city recently annexed the Valley Ranch subdivision along U.S. 93 North. That site's plans also call for an assisted living center.

There are at least seven major housing projects with close to 5,000 proposed homes being planned over the next 20 years along Kalispell's northern border.

Also at 7 p.m. today, the council is scheduled to:

. Be briefed on what is happening to consolidate the Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Flathead County 911 centers and to seek a tax to pay for merger and operating the combined center;

. Consider whether the city should address small children riding unrestrained in vehicles.
