Mae Diane Gordon, 87, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, of natural causes at Heritage Place in Kalispell. Mae was born to a farming family in Barron County, Wis., on June 27, 1921. She was the fourth of five children born to Edith and Harry Duvall.

She grew up running at the heels of her farmer father, as he tilled and worked the fields of their rural Wisconsin farm.

Mae attended country schools, and later she married Royal Lee Gordon on Feb. 6, 1938, in Ellsworth, Wis. To that union four children were born and she is survived by them.

Mae loved growing flowers, arts and crafts and cooking. When she baked fresh bread, those anywhere nearby knew of it, and were soon there to partake of her delicious warm-baked wares. She was an excellent 'scratch' cook who could make a delicious meal out of almost anything.

Mae was preceded in death by brothers, Lester and Carmen; and sisters, Ede Pierson and Aretta Thorp.

She is survived by her sons, Donald H. of Kalispell, and Michael Lee and Richard Dean and wife, Tony, of Whitefish; daughter, Colleen 'Pep' Clark of Silver Lake, Wash.; grandsons, James D. Gordon and wife Wendy of Everett, Wash., Robert A. Gordon of Garibaldi, Ore., Christopher Michael Royal Gordon of Whitefish, Jesse Dean Gordon of Missoula, Bronco and Josh Waddington of Silver Lake, Wash., and James Waddington of Longview, Wash.; granddaughters, Deahn Benware and husband Bob of Kalispell, Wende Fowler of Kelso, Wash., and Bette Nash and family of Silver Lake, Wash.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. David Kauffman officiating.
