James Owen Green, 65

James Owen Green, 65, passed away Oct. 4, 2007, at his home in Hungry Horse. Born Oct. 22, 1941, in Eau Claire, Wis., to parents Harry and Verta Green, Jim was the youngest of four children.

Jim is survived by his twin sisters, Janice and Janet; his three children, Jeanne Klenz, Dawn Duckett and Michael Green, five grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in by death by his wife, Sonja; father Harry; mother, Verta; and brother, Jack.

Jim grew up in Wisconsin, where he married his high school love, Sonja. After the birth of their third child they moved out west to Montana to live and raise their family. Jim worked as a brick mason for many years. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, guiding and working around horses. He proudly passed all these traits on to his children.

In the early 1980s Jim and Sonja moved to Williston, N.D., for several years where they both drove semi-trucks. The love of Montana brought them back to Hungry Horse where they settled down as home.

Jim was an active member of the Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years. Both Jim and Sonja were active in Canyon events and activities.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 12, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.
