Beatrice Gordon, 91

Beatrice Gordon, 91, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at the Colonial Manor in Whitefish. She was born on March 15, 1916, in Baudette, Minn., to Ingvald and Henrietta (Lorenson) Sands.

Beatrice received her early education in Baudette before moving with her family to Strathcona, Minn.

It was there that she met and married Palmer N. Gordon on Nov. 20, 1938. The couple moved to the Flathead Valley in 1947 where they operated a sawmill on their property on Foothills Road. They not only milled the lumber for their own homes but sold ties to the plant in Somers and around the valley. Beatrice was know for her cooking and would prepare 14 loaves of bread at a time. Her cooking, gardening and needlework were marveled at by all of her family.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Elizabeth, Eunice and Olga; and two brothers, Gordon and Lawrence.

She is survived by her son, David, of Kalispell; four grandchildren, Ron, Richard, Corinna and Melissa; 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Gladys and Clarice; and one brother, Elwood.

Memorial services for Beatrice are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Colonial Manor in Whitefish with Sam Cole officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. There will be visitation from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
