Man shooting at squirrels causes alarm

A motel owner on U.S. 2 in Hungry Horse was shooting at squirrels and scared one of his guests, who called deputies.

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies were looking for a transient camped near the Old Steel Bridge. His sister called deputies after he texted her that he lit his hair on fire while trying to start a campfire. Then he texted her that he took a bunch of pills his girlfriend gave him. When deputies finally got him on the phone, the man said he was in St. Ignatius and fine.

A bear was spotted in Wayfarers State Park.

A German short hair was taken from a kennel at a motel on Montana 35. When deputies arrived to investigate, they arrested the 32-year-old owner for an outstanding assault warrant.
