Carol A. Petek, 60

Carol A. Petek, 60, a longtime employee of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

Carol was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Mr. and Mrs. Leo Pruitt on May 28, 1947. She was raised and educated in Bonners Ferry and Libby, remaining in Libby most of her adult life.

She had been an employee of Lincoln County for more than 30 years, serving many of those years as a dispatcher at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office until retiring in July 2007.

Carol had been an active member of St. John Lutheran Church for many years. She had been a member of the church bell choir and Altar Guild as well. She also had served as board member and president of the Libby Little League Association. She had a special interest in arts and crafts, and also had been an avid reader. Her greatest enjoyment was being a grandma to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne (Tiny) Petek, in 1994; and her father.

She is survived by her children, Sarah Williams and Becky Petek, both of Libby, and Marie Hoobery, of Caldwell, Idaho; her sisters, Paula Pruitt of San Francisco, Val Pellens of Vancouver, Wash., and Candy Kelly of Bonners Ferry; her brothers, Gary Pruitt of Seattle, Stan Pruitt of Bonners Ferry, and Wayne Pruitt of Hawaii; her mother, Delores Pruitt, of Bonners Ferry; eight grandchildren, Kirsten, McKenzie, Dawson, Leslie, Chanelle, Melanie, Kyira, and Kimberly; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with Pastor Eric Christiansen officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Nelson and Vial Funeral Homes and Crematory.
