Abbie M. Crowell, 89

Abbie M. Crowell, 89, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell. She was born July 24, 1918, in Akeley, Minn., to Jay and Myrtle (Kimball) Carver. Abbie received her early education in Minnesota.

She married Allen Crowell on Dec. 11, 1937, in Ponsford, Minn., and they began their family. In 1941, they moved to Anacortes, Wash., and in 1947, they moved to Monroe, Wash. There she worked seasonally in the flower industry. In 1964, they moved to Kalispell, where she has lived until her passing.

She loved flowers and birds of all kinds and would feed the birds all winter. She was an animal lover, especially dogs and horses. She and Allen loved to travel throughout the U.S.

Abbie had many hours of volunteer work with the Salvation Army and different nursing homes.

Abbie was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, after 57 years of marriage, in June of 1994; also, four brothers; two sisters; and her parents.

She is now survived by two daughters, Sharon Johnson of Kalispell, and LaVerne Joyce of Puyallup, Wash.; and a son, Max Crowell, of Molalla, Ore.; also, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Abbie Crowell will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at Glacier Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be given to ALERT, 310 Sunnyview Lane, Kalispell, MT 59901.
