Barbara Allen, 80

| April 10, 2008 1:00 AM

Barbara Allen, 80, "went home to Jesus" on April 4, 2008, with her family at her side.

She was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Lafayette, Colo., to Jacob and Anna Seewald.

She was a wonderful wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Barbara loved people. She enjoyed many years as a member of Women of the Moose in Kalispell, working her way up to senior regent. She loved to sing, and brightened many people's lives with performances at nursing homes and other events. She was also a reading grandma volunteer at elementary schools in Kalispell, and she enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels with her wonderful husband, Glenn.

She was a banquet waitress and caterer for several years, and owned a second-hand children's store, "Lil Folks World," which she thoroughly enjoyed.

She moved to Spokane to be close to her family in November of 2006.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Glenn Allen; son, Stephen Osborne; daughters, Peggy Rieben and Russ, Cynthia Filipy and Tom, and Leslie Osborne-Allen; grandchildren, Julie Gilmore and Brett, Thomas Howard and Juliette, and Tim Streets; great-grandchildren, Josie, Eric, Tyre, Noah and Leah; three sisters, Margaret Sterkel, Maggie Rodamacher, and Liz Dumler; two brothers, Joe and Pete Seewald; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Barbara's wonderful sense of humor will always be in our hearts. Even through her illness, she kept that sense of humor and beautiful smile. Her philosophy of life was "Don't worry, be happy."

"We will all miss her. We would like to thank Hospice House for the excellent care Mom received."

Visitation for Barbara will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Riplinger Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 505 W. St., Thomas More Way. Interment will be afterward at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N. Division St., Spokane, WA 99207 is in charge of arrangements.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210-2215.
