Beryl H. Garvin, 73

Beryl H. Garvin, 73, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008, at her home in Kalispell. Beryl was born Aug. 21, 1934, in Canada to Fred and Lena (Blankensop) Heggen.

She moved to Havre during her preschool years. The family moved to Kalispell when Beryl was in the third grade. She attended grade school and then Flathead County High School.

Beryl married in 1950. They lived in Libby for two years, then they moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she worked for the State Department of Personnel. Beryl remarried in 1963, and they moved back to Kalispell in 1965.

Beryl married Russ Garvin in 1972. She managed the Wonderbread store in Kalispell, then worked as a teacher's assistant for School District 5, from 1981 until retiring in 1994.

Beryl loved taking trips with horses and mules. She was a charter member of the Back Country Horsemen, and a member of the Stillwater Free Lutheran Church.

Beryl saw a lot of beauty through the lens of a camera. Her favorite place to visit was the Anaconda Pintler Wilderness. She loved the beauty of this wonderful place she called home, and never once took it for granted. Just taking a trip to town, she would see things that most people would not notice. Beryl always took time to smell the roses.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Lena Heggen.

Beryl is survived by her husband, Russ Garvin; children, Vicki Hanson and husband, Jeff, of Kalispell, Jana Monahan of Beaverton, Ore., Randy and Linda Augusta of Kalispell, and Dale and Pam Augusta of Kalispell; siblings, Wayne and Arlene Fleggen of Seeley Lake, Jerry and Kathern Heggen, Joyce and Holly Eastlund, and Shirley and Willard Lybeck, all of Kalispell; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Beryl's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Stillwater Free Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tim Bartholomew officiating. Her ashes will be buried at Fairview Cemetery.
