Arnold H. “Jake” Jacobson, 85, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Hillside Manor.

He was born May 19, 1922, in Creston, to Bertina and Ernest Jacobson. He attended grade school in Somers and graduated from Flathead County High School.

Arnold served in the U.S. Army for three and a half years during World War II and was honorably discharged.

He married Blanche M. Martin on May 28,1950.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; two daughters, Mary Hillstrom and Richard, and Patricia VanSickle and Peter; one son, Bob and Janelle; as well as his sisters, Sylvia McKenzie and Celia Meadows; and his brother, Raymond Jensen. He has four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jake was an intelligent, kind and compassionate man. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, he loved Flathead Lake, fishing and water sports.

He worked in the lumber industry all of his life and retired from Champion International in 1984.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Missoula, and was honored to be worshipful master of a local Masonic Lodge.

A memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Curtis Privette, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at the First Baptist Church, 308 W. Pine St. in Missoula, with a luncheon to follow in the church parlor.
