A boy who dialed a random number to make a prank call picked the wrong target. The man he allegedly made death threats to was an off-duty cop, and Kalispell police officers paid the prankster a visit.

Columbia Falls police arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with his fourth drunk-driving charge, a felony.

Flathead County sheriff

Burglars stole cash from four coffee kiosks Saturday - two in Bigfork and two along U.S. 2 in Kalispell. At press time, Flathead County sheriff's deputies did not know the total amount taken and had not made any arrests. The thieves left evidence behind in at least one kiosk.

A 16-year-old boy was caught shoplifting at an Evergreen box store. A man and girl were caught shoplifting at a nearby box store two hours later.

Two boys were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting when they tried to leave a grocery store without paying for the pair of 50-cent doughnuts they'd eaten.

Neighbors in Marion quarreled over a road easement.

After arguing about finances with a man, a woman sped away in her vehicle, running over his foot in the process. He wasn't seriously injured, and deputies aren't certain she was aware she'd done it.

A Kila caller said bullets from a neighbor's gun were whizzing by, about five feet away. A deputy counseled the shooter on safe shooting practices.

A man confronted his intoxicated wife at a Kalispell restaurant about her drinking and gambling habits. He allegedly shoved her a couple of times but did not injure her. A deputy called the woman a taxi so she could spend the rest of the day with a friend.

A Lake County man said the Columbia Falls man who bought his ATV sold it to another person without paying him for it first. The incident was turned over to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

A man called from a Columbia Falls trailer park to report that a man had assaulted him five minutes ago and currently was choking him.

Alarms

The Kalispell Fire Department went to a grass fire Friday evening on College Avenue. It didn't take long to get everything under control; all units were clear within 17 minutes.

Whitefish ambulance took a teenager with possible alcohol poisoning to the hospital early Saturday morning.

The odor of natural gas led to a furniture store's evacuation Saturday morning. The Evergreen Fire Department responded, as did Northwestern Energy.
