Flathead County sheriff

In Whitefish, people complained to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office that their kitchen smelled of bear spray and that it hurt their lungs when they inhaled. While they were on the phone, a child in the house said he'd dropped the bear spray earlier but had put it back.

Deputies told a man reported to be texting death threats to a woman to stop.

After a long search for mailboxes reported missing on West Reserve Drive, deputies discovered the U.S. Postal Service had relocated them.

A Kalispell woman reported receiving death threats via e-mail.

Trespassers were caught spray-painting a bridge on Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. property.

People were caught stealing scrap steel on Flathead Drive. They fled the scene when they realized they'd been spotted.

A woman said she'd left her scanner under the dashboard when she took her car in for an oil change, but that the scanner was missing when she got her car back. Mechanics said they never saw a scanner.

Kalispell police

After an employee denied a man's request to park in the business's parking lot, the man followed the employee. It made the employee nervous, especially because he was on his way to the bank to make a deposit. A Kalispell police officer spoke with the follower, who found a different place to park.

A woman and her daughter said they kept receiving harassing phone messages from the daughter's friend. Unfortunately, they couldn't prove the caller's identity. Police recommended getting a new phone number.

A Third Street West resident complained Friday night that for the past two days, a mysterious, sulfuric smell had been emanating from the neighbor's garage. It got stronger each time the garage door opened.

During a traffic stop, an officer arrested a 19-year-old on suspicion of being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Officers warned Seventh Avenue East residents not to light fireworks in their backyard. They insisted they'd been falsely accused.

The man sitting outside a fast-food restaurant said he was hungry and might be having a heart attack. He refused medical help, but did let a friend drive him home.

A College Avenue man investigated when he heard a loud "pop" Friday night, fearing something had happened to his car tire. Instead, he found a man walking near his neighbor's vehicle, which had suffered a slashed rear tire.

While investigating a report of people smoking drugs in a Ninth Avenue West front yard, officers arrested a boy on suspicion of drug possession and being a minor in possession of tobacco.

A 10th Avenue West resident was suspicious of the truck idling with its lights on in front of his residence early Saturday morning. When an officer investigated, he discovered the vehicle's occupants had mistaken the street for Lovers Lane. They were advised to move along.

Two men fought over a baby in a fast-food restaurant. One went to the hospital after being knocked to the ground.

Officers received 101 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Columbia Falls police received 24 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police received 41 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Alarms

An abandoned campfire spread above Tally Lake Campground Friday night. It was smaller than a quarter-mile when the Whitefish Fire Department arrived; firefighters put it out.

Lakeside QRU and a Kalispell Fire Department ambulance took three people to the hospital after a rollover Friday night between Lakeside and Somers.
