Mabel Zoe Bush Luckey passed away peacefully in Kalispell on Aug.18, 2008, after a long battle with dementia. Mabel was born in 1921 in a rural Pine Flats cabin near Porter's Lake in Pike County, Pa., to Archie Edwin Bush and Janet Lord Miller Bush. She was a longtime resident of Monroe County, Pa., until moving to Montana in 1996.

Mabel was truly a remarkable person and lifelong champion of conservative issues, bringing passion and dignity to all of her many civic and fraternal endeavors. She was a true naturalist, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Being both the daughter and husband of foresters, Mabel was a lover of the great outdoors and loved her many trips to Yellowstone National Park, watching hundreds of elk, buffalo, and an occasional grizzly bear.

She was a celebrated cook and baker, and always will be remembered for orchestrating scrumptious dinners, sometimes for hundreds of people.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Alvin W. Luckey.

She is survived by her son, Stephen, and his wife, Jeannie, in Kalispell; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mabel was always a very active member in her local Lutheran church, Eastern Star, and the Order of Amaranth.

Her life will be celebrated in private gatherings in Montana and Pennsylvania. She will be missed by her many friends and family.
