Iverson, Glacier open on top
Take individual, team honors in golf at Great Falls Invitational

GREAT FALLS - For Larry Iverson, it was just like last year.
Trail after the first day, and win it on the second.
Iverson, a Glacier High School senior, repeated as medalist Tuesday with another come-from-behind effort in the Great Falls Invitational golf tournament.
Iverson closed with a 72 on a very windy day at Eagle Falls Golf Club to overtake first-day leader Jake Hedge of Billings West. Iverson finished with a two-day total of 141.
Hedge, who led Iverson by one shot after Monday's round at Meadow Lark Country Club with his 68, shot a 77 for the final 18 and wound up at 145.
Glacier had three individuals in the top 10 as Grahm Schmaltz, 71-75-146, tied for third with Missoula Hellgate's Colin Gunstrem, 70-76-146, and Tre Griffith, 77-78-155, finished 10th.
Glacier also snapped up the team trophy with a 603 score. West was second, 616, followed by Bozeman, 639, Billings Senior, 640, and Whitefish, 643.
Flathead was 11th, 681.
Glacier was the runner-up here a year ago.
Whitefish had one golfer in the top 10 - Reed Platke, 79-75-154, who tied for eighth.
Flathead's top scorer was Ian Gillespie with a pair of 80s.
The Whitefish girls finished fourth, 738, in the team standings behind C.M. Russell, 682, West, 697, and Bozeman, 730.
Glacier, 780, was 10th, and Flathead, 796, 12th.
Whitefish's BreAnna Cameron, 82-89-171, was sixth. Glacier's Karli Aurich, 82-94-176, tied for ninth.
Ashleigh Ogolin of Butte was the medalist, 76-84-160. She finished three shots ahead of Morgan Lee of Great Falls and Erin King of West.
Sarah Cunningham, 95-100-195, had the best showing for the FHS girls.
This was the season opener for all teams.
Flathead and Glacier are back in action Sept. 4-5 at the Helena Invitational. Iverson is the defending medalist at the invitational and the Glacier boys are defending champions.
The next outing for Whitefish, and the other valley schools, is the Ronan Invitational on Thursday.
