Stillwater wins basketball opener

Logan Ward tallied 20 points and Jake Meekatz added 17 as Stillwater Christian School opened the MCAA boys basketball season with a 69-56 victory over Bitterroot Home School on Thursday at SCS.

Stillwater led 35-21 at the half.

"Our focus all preseason has been controlling turnovers, passing the ball and rebounding," Stillwater coach Dana Hashley said. "Tonight we were very successful at all three."

Ward hit four treys in the first quarter as Stillwater rolled to a 21-11 advantage.

Tim Butterfield had eight rebounds and six assists for the Cougars.

Stillwater hosts the Cougar Classic this weekend. It plays Helena Home School tonight at 7:30.
