Kalispell police

Kalispell police, with help from Flathead County sheriff's deputies and Flathead County Search and Rescue, spent about three hours Friday searching for an 87-year-old man who went missing from a South Main Street casino. He was last seen at about 5 p.m.; his disappearance was reported to police shortly after 9 p.m. At about midnight, the man was discovered safe at his Browns Meadow Road residence - he'd hitched a ride home.

To escape the police officers trying to arrest him on a warrant, a 19-year-old man jumped off a Hawthorn Avenue roof. His plan didn't work, and his escape attempts led to a charge of assault with a weapon in addition to the outstanding warrant.

A caller said a man, whose last name the caller didn't know, had been making threats with a knife.

The wallet a woman accidentally left in the fast-food restaurant's ladies room was gone when she returned for it. Employees said they hadn't picked it up.

A man let police know he'd recently sold several guns to the same individual, a disclosure he said was required by federal law.

A container in the other lane exploded as a driver went past it on Two Mile Drive.

An officer removed a Porta-Potty from the middle of the intersection of 13th Street and Fourth Avenue West.

Someone attempted to get inside a Greendale Court resident's house early Saturday morning; she heard someone at her back door.

The line went dead after dispatchers heard a man say, "Get off of me." When officers investigated the disturbance on Second Avenue East, they arrested a woman there on an outstanding warrant.

A caller said two women had jumped her, then refused to leave her College Avenue residence. Later, an officer picked up the alleged attackers during a traffic stop.

A car struck a house on Fifth Avenue East after the driver forgot to put the vehicle in park.

The driver who split after hitting a fence on Eighth Street West conveniently left behind a license plate.

Nearly $1,000 in workout gear and electronics were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a restaurant on U.S. 93 South.

A man was arrested during a traffic stop on suspicion of possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Officers received 85 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Flathead County sheriff

In two separate incidents, Flathead County sheriff's deputies counseled people involved in sending and receiving threatening text messages.

A local woman called from Seattle to report her suspicions that someone is recording her phone conversations. A deputy advised her to contact the Sheriff's Office when she returns to the Flathead.

A Shady Lane man reported a mysterious white substance that definitely wasn't bird poop on his front porch. The deputy who investigated determined the substance probably had come from a bird.

An intoxicated man knocked down another man at an apartment on U.S. 2 East, reportedly because the second man had made a pass at the first man's wife. Witnesses, however, said the first man was just very drunk. He went to the hospital with a back injury; his wife was given a ride to a hotel.

The man passed out in a Whitefish bar woke up when the ambulance arrived.

No one was around the vehicle in the ditch on Hodgson Road. Another car that tried to pull it out ended up next to it in the ditch.

After a slide-in at a church on U.S. 93 West, a driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The ring lost in Flathead County probably doesn't have the power to destroy all of Middle Earth. But the woman who lost the pricey piece of jewelry would like it back before someone finds it and tries to pawn it.

A Third Street West resident had a "verbal confrontation" with the neighbor he suspects is using his electricity.

Four would-be customers became unruly when a Bigfork bartender refused to serve them because their IDs were "questionable." They left before deputies arrived, reportedly on their way to another bar.

Deputies received 145 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Columbia Falls police

While investigating a report of suspicious circumstances at a grocery store, Columbia Falls police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

After a short pursuit, officers arrested a 31-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI, resisting arrest, eluding officers and parole violation.

Officers went to a business on U.S. 2, where an intoxicated man had passed out in the restroom.

Officers received 37 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police cited three teenage girls on suspicion of underage drinking Friday night at the high school.

A blank check and a jar of change were stolen from a residence on Waverly Place.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old Missoula man on suspicion of drunken driving and driving without insurance.

An 18-year-old Whitefish man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, MIP and a Montana Highway Patrol warrant for MIP.

Officers received 33 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Alarms

Several gallons of gasoline made a spill 6 feet wide at a West Idaho Street filling station Friday evening. Kalispell Fire Department cleaned up the mess.

A man was discovered lying on the ground at a Columbia Falls bowling alley. Three Rivers EMS took him to the hospital.

Three Rivers also transported a woman who'd been knocked unconscious in an accident on Montana 206 on Friday night.

On Saturday, Three Rivers EMS took a Columbia Falls man to the hospital after he took his medication inappropriately. Doctors had told him to swallow the pills; he'd attempted to crush and snort them instead.

Kalispell Fire Department ambulance took a female assault victim with a head injury to the hospital.

The Kalispell ambulance also transported a man with possible alcohol poisoning Saturday; he'd reportedly been drinking since Tuesday.

Whitefish Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Mallard Loop. The residents evacuated the house, but the alarm turned out to be false.

Whitefish firefighters also responded to a fire alarm, which resulted from a burst sprinkler, on Monterra Avenue.

A neighbor with a boat rescued the dog that fell through the ice on Foy's Lake before Smith Valley Fire Department arrived.
