Several railroad cars derailed on the BNSF track near Essex late Saturday afternoon. No one was injured. No hazardous materials were involved, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office said. Additional details were not available Sunday.

Numerous vehicles slid into ditches or were stuck in the snow during the weekend. Snow as deep as 6 feet blocked North Fork Road in a couple of spots.

A case of a child with suspicious bruises on his back was reported to the Sheriff's Office on Saturday evening. The child was taken to North Valley Hospital.

A person parked a car in front of the Glacier Park International Airport terminal and left the engine running Sunday afternoon. An elderly man got in the car and drove it away in the mistaken belief that his son left it there for him.

Kalispell police

A pool cue stick worth $350 was stolen from a southern Kalispell bar late Saturday afternoon, Kalispell police reported.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of a probation violation on First Avenue West early Sunday morning.

Police arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving downtown early Sunday morning.

Police ticketed two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy in the downtown on suspicion of curfew violations early Sunday morning.

Police arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of domestic assault, and violating a restraining order and his probation on Eighth Avenue West Sunday morning.

Two pairs of ice skates, a backpack, two pairs of gloves and $50 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Second Avenue East on Sunday morning.

A 13-inch golden metal deer was stolen at a Second Avenue West apartment Sunday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving downtown late Saturday evening.

Police logged 30 calls from 3:30 p.m. Saturday to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
