A Kalispell man was killed Monday evening and three others were injured in a head-on collision on U.S. 2 near Glacier Park International Airport.

David Jordon Milliren, 18, suffered massive chest trauma in the wreck and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Flathead County coroners.

Milliren was driving a 1991 Toyota Corolla southbound on U.S. 2 near Birch Grove Road about 7:30 p.m. Monday when the driver of a sport utility vehicle traveling northbound lost control and slid into the oncoming lane of traffic, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

Investigators have yet to determine what caused the 26-year-old driver of the SUV to cross the center line.

Milliren's passengers, an 18-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, plus the woman driving the SUV were taken by ambulance to hospitals in Kalispell and Whitefish.

Speed was a factor in the crash, and the highway was snow-covered and icy, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. Milliren and at least one of his passengers were not wearing seat belts.

The driver of the SUV has not been cited.

The Flathead County Attorney's Office will determine whether charges are warranted.

The Kalispell Fire Department, Evergreen Fire Department, Montana Highway Patrol and Flathead County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

Milliren is the 24th person to die in crashes on Flathead County highways this year.
