Dechart, Eureka take care of Plains

PLAINS - Eureka used a balanced attack to upend Plains 65-56 Friday in District 8-B boys' basketball.

Ben Dechart led the way with 22 points. Marcus Pluid followed with 15 and Josiah Begay was next with 14.

Eureka led 27-20 at the half.

Seniors Jon Harrel and Zach George combined for 23 points in leading Stillwater to a victory over Flathead Valley Home School.

George paced the Cougars with 17 points. Harrel added six.

FVHS' Will Heffernan led all scorers with 23 points.

Charity Zemke scored 19 points and Danae Sheeran added 13 as Flathead Valley Home School downed Stillwater Christian to wrap up first place in the Montana Christian Athletic Association.

The contest was nip-and-tuck all the way as the Home School (19-2, 6-0) owned a 20-18 halftime lead and was up 35-31 after three quarters.

Nichole Danz paced the Cougars with 14 points.

"The girls played an incredibly hard-fought game," said SCS coach Denise Topp.

"It was our senior night and the seniors stepped up to the plate. (Sarah) Cloyed started us off with five-quick points and (Sarah) Meerkatz kept us in it with her great defense. Danz shot the lights out and (Amanda) Nichols handled the ball very well."

EUREKA - Mariah Newell had a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds to power Eureka to a District 8-B win over Plains.

Carly Hammond finished with seven steals and six assists. Steph Vogelman added 10 points for the Lions.
