Snowskate Jam has international flair

Fifty-five contestants of all ages and skill levels entered the Whitefish Winter Carnival Yeti Snowskate Jam last weekend in Whitefish.

Contestants were from the Flathead Valley and as far away as Montreal and Saskatchewan, Canada.

Locals skaters Bjorn Ryan-Gorman and Max Konopatzke recently returned from the Winter X-Games, where Ryan-Gorman placed third and Konopatzke won the Best Trick award.

Some contestants were first-time snowskaters.

10 and Under

First place: Shonn Roberts

Second place: Hunter Lamoureux

Third place: Ethan Lannaghan

Best Trick: Shonn Roberts

Beginner

First place: Stellan Ryan-Coats

Second place: Bryce Meehan

Third place: Calub Thilmony

Best Trick: Bryce Meehan

Intermediate

First place: Willie Klink

Second place: Emmerson Brechbill

Third place: Jake Morison

Best Trick: Ian Tolson

Advanced

First place: Dylan Parr

Second place: Mitchell Serbu

Third place: Nate Witbrod

Best Trick: James Richards

Expert

First place: Travis Adams

Second place: Bjorn Ryan-Gorman

Third place: Josh Seguin

Best Trick: Travis Adams

Jimmy Deats was knighted by the Whitefish Winter Carnival Royalty as "Sir Do-It-All" Deats and Jade Larsen was knighted as Jade "Park Meister" Larson.

Both have worked with the event for several years and have provided their expertise.

Judges included Alex Adams, Jade Larsen and Matt Holloway; the announcer was Shane Dowaliby.
