GIRLS ROUNDUP: Sentinel downs Wolfpack girls

MISSOULA - After a very slow start, it was all Missoula Sentinel.

Glacier led 8-2 after eight minutes of play, but Sentinel stormed back with 23- and 24-point quarters for a 59-31 Western AA girls' basketball victory Saturday afternoon.

Sentinel led 25-12 at the half and 49-20 heading into the fourth period.

Cassie Kavran had 14 points to pace Sentinel.

Emilee Hashley had eight points to lead Glacier.

BIGFORK - Kailey Fierro had 18 points, eight rebounds and four steals, and Emily Hardman had seven points and four assists as the Bigfork JV girls sunk Stillwater Christian School.

Bigfork led 26-9 at halftime while improving to 14-3. The Valkyries enjoyed a full roster because they didn't have to save their athletes for varsity action.

"It was fun," Bigfork coach Bill Epperly said, "I didn't have to worry about saving quarters. We were able to play a normal ball game and rotate as I saw fit."

Abby Smith scored 13 points for Stillwater, which begins Montana Christian Athletic Association tournament play in Helena on Thursday.

POLSON - Eureka outscored Polson 18-7 in the third quarter to trail 43-37, but Polson responded with a 15-point final quarter to put the game away.

RONAN - Jackie Mee scored 14 of her 24 points in the second half to rally the Loggers to the Northwestern A victory.

Ronan held a 29-13 lead at halftime.

Brittany Martin added 11 points as Libby improved to 4-4 in conference and 9-7 overall.

Kaylee Larson finished with 18 points and Carli Starkel added 14 to pace Ronan.

COLUMBIA FALLS - Chelsea Ray and Ashley Ferda scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, to lead the Bulldogs to the Northwestern A victory.

The Bulldogs led 11-5 after the first quarter and 27-16 at the half. They improved to 7-2 in conference and 10-6 overall.

Columbia Falls was paced by Kayla DeWitt's 10 points. The Wildkats fell to 1-8 in conference and 5-12 overall.
