Douglas Earl White, 73
Douglas Earl White, 73, of Columbia Falls passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007.
He was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Polson to James P. (Bud) and Mabel White.
He attended school in Round Butte, Ronan and Polson. He graduated from Polson in 1952.
He married Barbara Williamson on June 21, 1953, and later was divorced. They had five children.
He married Sharon Sampson and later was divorced.
Doug worked as a truck driver, a welder on the Alaska Pipeline and a mechanic at the Columbia Falls aluminum plant.
He was a member of the Elks Club in Polson, the Bagdad Shrine Center of Butte, the Salish Shrine Club of Polson, Mission Valley Lodge No. 78 of A.F. & A.M., and the Royal Order of Jesters, Butte Court No. 23.
He loved hunting, fishing and gambling. But stock car racing was his passion. He loved helping other stock car racers in the pits.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud White and Mabel Williams; and his infant son, Douglas Alan White.
He is survived by his special friend, Irene Barnhart; children, Glenn White of Weed, Calif., Koko (Todd) Herreid of Thompson Falls, Lorey (Jeff) Jackson of Pablo, and Corey White of Polson; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brothers, Dick White and Donald White, of Stockton, Calif., Jim White of St. George, Utah, and David Williams of Paradise, Calif.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Masonic Temple next to the Catholic Church in Polson.
