Nelda I. 'Neenie' Ness, 85

| January 27, 2008 1:00 AM

Nelda I. "Neenie" Ness, 85, passed away with her children by her side Jan. 20, 2008, in Spokane. She was born March 11, 1922, in Fort Benton.

She is survived by her three children, Nancy and Mac Rogers of Plano, Texas, Judy Adams of Spokane, and Don and Mary Ness of Moses Lake, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren who adored her and called her "Neenie"; two sisters, Dorothy Baldwin and Elnora Dye, of Kalispell; one brother, Dick Bell, of Post Falls, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Hank" Ness; five brothers; and two sisters.

Nelda was raised in Geraldine, then attended high school in Kalispell, where she met and married her beloved Hank. They were a spectacular team for 47 years.

Her last four years of life were spent at Riverview Retirement Community, where she was lovingly cared for.

Her family and all who knew her will never forget her smile, quick wit, love of children, and her talents in the kitchen and sewing room. She was always ready for adventures, especially those involving her family.

Her love was most apparent in her care and concern for others. In fact, the family has said, "Love left the world today and although the world may not, we know."

A memorial service joyfully celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Faith Bible Church, 600 W. Cora, in Spokane.
