Hageness, Libby check C-Falls

COLUMBIA FALLS - Brooke Hageness struck out 11 batters and held Columbia Falls to five singles as Libby rolled to a 13-1 Western A softball victory Friday.

Hageness also had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-4 and driving in three runs.

Columbia Falls scored first, in the bottom half of the first inning, but it was all Libby after that. The Loggers used four hits, two walks and a Columbia Falls' error to score six times in the second inning.

"It just wasn't a good inning," Columbia Falls coach Dave Kehr said.

"Real disappointing," Kehr continued.

"I thought we would play better. I thought we were more ready for them than this. We just didn't hit the ball."

Lindsey Nelson went 2-for-2 to lead the Wildkats.

WHITEFISH - Torey Ost recored five strikeouts, issued no walks and checked Browning on three singles as Whitefish rolled to an easy Western A victory.

"She was throwing well and had a good defense behind her," Whitefish coach David Dachs said.

"What else could you ask for."

Whitefish's Adele FauntLeRoy got the offense rolling with a leadoff double. She stole third and then home. The Bulldogs tallied three runs in the first inning.

The big inning for WHS was the fourth, when it scored four times.

Desiree Clarke went 3-for-4 for the Bulldogs. Ost and Hailey Mortensen both had two hits.

Whitefish hosts Polson today at 4 p.m.

FRENCHTOWN - Sarah Newton's 2-run home run in the bottom of the six inning to left-center field was the difference for Polson.

It was Newton's fourth HR of the season and broke a 7-all tie.

Polson pitcher Dakota Peterson retired Frenchtown in order in the top of the seventh.

Polson, 13-1 overall, plays at Whitefish today, 4 p.m.
