Despite some equipment troubles, Glacier National Park plow crews continued their advance toward Logan Pass this week.

The park's west-side crew has plowed to Haystack Creek on Going-to-the-Sun Road, using a rotary plow that has mechanical problems. Another park rotary plow was in the shop this week.

On the west side of the park, visitors can drive as far as Lake McDonald Lodge, where there is a gate. Saturday through Monday, hikers and bikers can travel beyond the gate with no restrictions. The rest of the week, hiker and biker access is restricted just below the Loop.

On the east side of the park, vehicles can travel Sun Road just more than five miles from St. Mary to Rising Sun.

Park officials are aiming to open Sun Road over Logan Pass on June 13, weather permitting.

The road into Many Glacier opened Tuesday, and a stretch of the Inside North Fork Road between Polebridge and Big Prairie was also opened this week.

The park's east side road crew is now clearing snow from the road into Two Medicine. Other park roads, including the Camas Road, remain closed by snow.
