A Coram woman called Flathead County sheriff's deputies after a man, recently released from jail, came to her U.S. 2 residence and stood outside yelling at her. The man was arrested on suspicion of stalking.

An Elk Trail woman told deputies her neighbors have been watching her. She later e-mailed a friend, saying her neighbors were holding her hostage. Both reports were unfounded.

The driver of a car on Helena Flats Road smashed through a fence and some mailboxes. The crash was reported by a man standing on a ladder who heard a loud crash.

A Pennsylvania man hunting bears in the Essex area dropped his pistol into a stream he was trying to cross. He was unable to recover the handgun.

The Blankenship Fire Department received reports of a plume of smoke above the North Fork Road. Turns out the smoke had drifted in from elsewhere.

The Somers Fire Department was paged out to a fire alongside U.S. 93 near the boat launch. A passer-by extinguished it before firefighters arrived.

The Marion Fire Department and Flathead dispatch were notified about a forest fire, two-thirds of an acre large, in the Valley Road area. The fire may have been caused by lightning.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to Fourth Street East, where a faulty surge protector filled the residence with smoke.
